weddings, parties, engagements, anything
seems to be the season to get hitched or engaged of late, and me and souri have been ever so lucky to be invited along to help celebrate these amazing occasions.

first was the surprise engagement of one of my best friend's nadine to the italian stallion salvo ;) the ensuing engagement party was a cracking night, with nadine and salvo looking nothing short of a million dollars.

next was the wedding of our friends kerry and james. this took place a few hours north of london in york and the northern hospitality was something else. such a change from blank looks and basically plain rudeness of most londoners. the wedding took place in some picture perfect english country side which we experienced in the fullest one day with a 2 hour walk (trek) to find a pub.
the wedding was a beautiful traditional English affair - with an Irish twist for good measure and all had an amazing time.

the latest wedding that we have been lucky enough to attend was the wedding of my boss sarah to the dashing dave. the wedding was so lovely and laid back, even the sun decided to make an appearance.

there are a few more shots from sarah and dave's wedding on flickr.
and last..... the big one. my "little" brother and quin have announced their engagement! this was was such great news but was a little hard to hear as we knew we could not be there to celebrate with them. but, we will definitely be there for the wedding so that is going to be another very special day in the wernej's history.

bright birthday bestival goodness
THERE WAS SUN
REPEAT
THERE WAS SUN
SUN at a festival in the uk. must have been all my birthday wishes come true. now let me take you back to the beginning of what was one of the best weekends and festivals eva!

as the shots show - i had a photo pass - my first photo pass for a legit 3 day boots and all festival and i was uber excited. this excitement nearly bubbled over when a certain scott spiers made a surprise appearance and joined our merry troop off on our magical mystery tour.

the value/liability of spiersy was discovered before we even got in the gate. a ticket i purchased on ebay ended up being a fake and spiersy was staring down the barrel of a trip back to london. but as he said "if anyone can get in, spiersy can get in". and he did.

the festival had a completely different feel then other ones we have been to due to the smaller size and nicer weather. there was plenty of sitting in the sun, drinking beer and watching the amazing fancy dress wonder past. my "man eating shark" outfit went down a reet treat.

and of course there was the music! and my god what a selection we had. the headline bands played headline sets. the up and coming bands played up and coming sets. the rest - well they just rocked out in the sun.

the gossip and beastie boys played outstanding sets, with the beastie boys being a personal highlight of the festival.

i think that foals delivered the best sets that i saw all weekend. as tight and as crisp as you would expect from them, and the late night slot had all the crowd dancing away. i also finally got to see the legend that is seasick steve. a brilliant afternoon set from the master.

it certainly was a very enjoyable way to celebrate my birthday and thanks to all the team that made my birthday celebrations so amazing. also thanks to everyone who called and message to wish me well. so nice to hear from you all.
there are a load of band shots on flickr, and just as many friends and fancy dress shots. so check check check em out.
and remember - "i am the birthday boy"
