the final coutdown
i have picked up the prints. i have picked up the frames. i have mounted all the photos. and i will be delivering the finished photos to the gallery tomorrow morning.
and i cannot wait!
there is only one more day left until the opening night of my exhibition at the brick lane gallery. i have spoken to loads of you who have all told me that you will be coming down to the gallery and i cannot wait to see you all there. i am so chuffed that so many of you are making the effort.
i am equally as chuffed with all the kind words that have been sent in from around the world. i am gutted that you cannot all make it, but i will have some shots from the opening night up here shortly.
until then... here is a sneak preview of my finished work.

and here are the details for the opening night and the gallery itself.

woodies could if you would
took my first steps into the rather interesting world of party photos on the weekend, having been asked to take some photos for the club that sourina works at - woodies.
was not too sure how it would all pan out having only been to the club once and never take party photos before. but after some rather helpful advice from luke and dan - plus a little courage from jack - i hit the dance floors.

am pretty happy with the results. and happy to get out of there alive. the mix of "chelsea kids", booze and a camera is rather explosive.
think that one of my favourites is the photo below. not your usual party/smiley/happy photo and i think that is part of its charm. the girls were not too happy with me taking the photo in the first place. i later realised that was due to the fact that one of them was in tears.... i think that someone had a little too much party.

click here for some more photos. they will be up on the woodies site soon.

big news!
in what could be considered my first step to becoming a yba (young british artist ;) i am pleased to announce that i will be having some of my photos displayed in an exhibition in london at the end of august.
even though i am kacking myself just a little, i am still amazingly excited about this opportunity.
the exhibition is called 'art in mind' and the lovely people at www.artshole.co.uk are the curators. i will have a number of photos on display all of them based on or around the young indie bands that i have been shooting over the last year.
it will be running from thursday 31st august until sunday 3rd september at the rather cool brick lane gallery.
there will be private viewing on thursday night from 6 - 9 (with free booze) which everyone is welcome to come along too.
i understand that this is a school night, so i am possibly planning a get together somewhere on brick lane on the sunday that will double as a birthday celebration for me (my birthday being the following weekend). more details to follow on this.
i am so damn excited about this and would love for everyone to come along if possible. the prints will be available to buy, so bring your cheque books and help a struggling artist out ;)

jeremy warmsley @ the spread eagle
before i get into the details of the gig, let me first tell you a bit about the rather dubious venue. to start with it was one of the reasons why we moved to the east end. well not for this specific venue, but more for the fact that we can walk for a grand total of 4 minutes from our front door to a venue to see an amazing gig. we even considered heading back and watching a bit of telly between the bands - not very rock and roll i know - but you get the picture
ok, the venue. well i know that it won't be too difficult for you to get an idea about the place - the SPREAD EAGLE - and yes it does mean that. so for those of you who don't have your mind in the gutter i shall elaborate. in its glory days, the spread eagle was a shinny beacon amongst the many strip clubs within the east end. being the nostalgic bunch that they are in the spread eagle, they have even decided to leave one of the poles that the (i am sure) lovely ladies used to perform on. this afore mentioned poll served quite well when one of the bands were looking for a 'makeshift cowbell'.

now onto mr warmsley. just brilliant basically. having heard a few of tracks via his myspace site, i had a rough idea about what he would sound like. however, even on the rubbish PA his voice was amazing. having bought along a band for the show, they sounded a little like when bob dylan went electric. 'dirty blue jeans' was the clear stand out track.
so a small but appreciative crowd enjoyed a solid show from jeremy warmsley - sans poll dance

so damn hot
some of the the hottest live property in the uk - the noisettes - drew babyshambles - belted out cracking sets in what has been tipped as (literally) the hottest venue in london, the macbeth. the steamy summer evening temperatures combined with the onstage antics to produce a nearly unbearable sweat-dripping-from-the-ceiling atmosphere.

the soaring temperatures turned the gig into more of a war of attrition, with artists battling the elements for their craft - and that was just me! a thought needs to be spared for shingai, dan and jamie (going animal-from-the-muppets crazy on the drums as per usual) who had to endure the temperatures.

and endure they did. all the while sprinting and shouting their way through a harder punky-er style of art rock. always a pleasure to watch, despite the dripping ceilings.
a full noisettes set can be found on flickr.
