worst day eva [spelt e-v-a]
well a big hello to everyone, and sorry for the lack of emails - but our feet have not touched the ground since being in london.....
let me take you back to the beginning....
landed and stayed in a hostel for the first nite. was really close to the centre of london - about 10 min walk from oxford street, so we got to check out a bit of london and the girls tried to pry themselves away from the shops - actually i had to also. there is that much cool stuff to buy. shame that it costs a squillion dollars
me up with nick parkin on the next day and headed to his place in brixton - good to back in brixton. has got a little bit better than last time i was there. only got three offers for "skunk" before we got to nicks place (which is a mansion that he shares with about 7 other ppl). cracked a few cans and caught up on the last six months. ryce turned up about an hour later and the stage was set for our initiation into london nitelife. headed to a wicked resturant called fujiamas for dinner. super nice food. then over to a bar in clappamto meet dave ward. more beers. back to brixton to another few bars - and more beers, then ended up a place called the hobgoblin - or as we called it the carmens of brixton. the place was a dive.
up the next morning with a sore head and started chatting to one of nicks room mates who told us that his firends were moving out of a place in hammersmith, a nice 2 bedroom flat, if we wanted to check it out. so had something to eat and then headed over to hammersmith to see the place. we were sold before we even walked thru the door. the place is unreal, really new inside, nice area, close to everything and only 70 pound each. we will be moving in about 2 weeks (on the first of june)... i will give you all the exact address as soon as i know it.
but, the ppl that we are getting the place off were so nice. they lent us sleeping bags for the sat nite, and even let us stay in the new place on sunday nite (they were going to bath for the nite). so we had a bit of a try-before-you-buy... cannot wait to move into the place. it is so nice. had the first drinks there with tys nutt on the sunday nite.
up on monday to begin the worst day eva
had a meeting to go to about out bank accounts but i stuffed up and took me and loz to the wrong tube station - subsequently missing the meeting [disaster 1]
packed up our gear before going to heathrow to try and get our bags back (NOTE: we have been given the total run around with some other bags that we sent over. the company gave us the wrong tracking number for the bags and no contact numbers for the company over here, thus leaving us with no warm clothes thus far) so to heathrow to try and sort this mess out. 45min walk, 2 hours wait at customs only to be told "sorry you dont have the right form". this was not taken to well. the stupid lady at customs wouldnt even wait for us to get the form faxed thru - this was not taken well either [disaster 2]
got our gear and headed to ken and margarets (loz's family in suffolk). get a message on the tude "liverpool st station is closed due to security breach" guess what station we were getting off at, yes thats right. so off at the station before, lugged our bags up and asked a guy what we were meant to do. he told us that the problem was over and we could be back on the tube [disaster 3]
back on the tube and got to liverpool street. found out that we had missed the train by 5 mins, and that the train is going to costs us 26 pounds each [disaster 4]
on the train - and my favourite disaster is awaiting. arrive at stowmarket station at about 11:00 in the nite. wave to ken and margaret as the train slows. we go to open the door. door doesnt open. train pulls off. we wave to ken and margaret again. [disaster 5]
so after waiting at Diss (yes that is really the name of the place) for 30 mins, we get back to stowmarket and manage to get off the train this time. couldnt wait for bed that nite
been at ken and margarets for 2 days now and it is the best. the bed is big and warm, the food is UNREAL, and they have been the best tour guides eva, showing us around all the cool old buildings/churches/gardens.... good to unwind and relax here for a while
heading back to london on friday to see if we can get some work in live-in bar jobs... see how that goes...
better go - nice cooked meal waiting for me on the table
hope everyone is well - and dry sounds like the shire is washing away....
